About Mario

Mario Bari has over 30 years experience as a water sport instructor and has certified over 1,000 divers. Born in 1968 in Turin, Italy, he began diving at the age of four and worked in his family’s dive shop: Bari Sub. The first of it’s kind in Northern Italy. There, he learned how to repair and maintain dive equipment and began teaching diving with his father which developed his lifelong passion for the water. He became the youngest PADI open water dive instructor in Europe in 1991 and has subsequently taught diving, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, waterskiing, wake boarding, SUP and kite-surfing in locations such as Egypt, Sinai, the Maldives, Thailand, Singapore, Sardinia, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Australia and Indonesia, where he has lived for the past 20 years. He has crossed the Indian Ocean three times on sailing yachts as second Captain and introduced the sport of Kite-surfing to Bali.

In 1998, together with Oka Sulaksana, the Indonesian Windsurfing Champion, Mario opened the Blue Oasis Beach Club — a water sports training center where he resided as managing director and owner. In 2009, he entered into a partnership with RipCurl school of surf and as well as teaching, trained local instructors.

Mario speaks four languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish), is a licensed Emergency First Responder PADI, a free-diver and spear fisherman, and was awarded by PADI for meritorious service and excellence in the profession.
